LIST OF EXCURTIONS

Every week Escuela Mexicana organizes a plan for half-day or full-day excursions. The excursions take place either within the city or in nearby cities of the state of Guanajuato during weekends (Saturday or Sunday).

 

It is important to consider that these excursion options are offered during summer season. However, excursions are also available by group request during fall and winter seasons. Another interesting destinations such as Mexico City, Guadalajara, beaches, etc., are also available upon request by groups. For this, it is necessary to make the request at least 4 weeks in advance.

 

Each excursion requires a minimum of 4 students to complete it. The list of some half-day or full-day excursions are listed below:

 

Atotonilco y San Miguel de Allende

The tour has 3 stops on the route:


  • 1 °, to the hot spring´s spa called "La Gruta", where you can enjoy nature and the pools for two hours.

  • 2 °, At the village of Atotonilco, where you visit the 18th century monastery that houses one of the most beautiful altarpieces in Latin America.

  • 3rd, to San Miguel de Allende, to visit the historic center and the handicraft market. After having dinner in the city, the group returns to the city of Guanajuato.




 

San Miguel Allende and Dolores Hidalgo

Visit the two most important cities in the Mexican Independence movement. Both cities are full of colonial architecture that is worth visiting. During the trip, you will cross the "Sierra de Santa Rosa" (at 1500 feet high) and enjoy the mountainous landscape.


The tour reaches the center of Dolores Hidalgo where you visit the church historically famous for "El grito de Independencia" and walk around the historic center. Later, the excursion goes to San Miguel de Allende to visit the handicraft market and the surroundings of the city. After having dinner in the city, the group returns to the city of Guanajuato.





Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan is considered the most important and impressive collection of Mexican pyramids in the center of the country due to its size and splendor. They are located approximately 1 hour from Mexico City.


The tour departs from Guanajuato City at 7:00 AM and the trip lasts approximately 4 hours. The groups stay in the archaeological zone to make a tour. The return to the City of Guanajuato is scheduled at 9:00 PM.





 

Zona arqueológica de Peralta y tequilera Corralejo

"Peralta" is the recently discovered archaeological zone open to the public in the State of Guanajuato. "Peralta" offers a complex of pyramids dating back 1000-1500 years. There you can know the type of life of the tribes in the area. The trip includes a visit to the tequila distillery called "Corralejo". This distillery is located in the town of Corralejo in an old Ex Hacienda. There you can learn about the process of making tequila, do a tasting workshop and learn about the charm of the Ex Hacienda Corralejo.





 

Morelia

The city of Morelia is located in the State of Michoacán. The city offers spectacular buildings and colonial squares full of color and history. The gastronomy of the area is another attraction. The tour departs from the city of Guanajuato in the morning and the return is scheduled at night. It is scheduled to make some visits to important museums in the city and dine at a local restaurant to enjoy the local cuisine.





 

Santuario de la mariposa monarca y Tlalpujahua

More than 100 million monarch butterflies migrate from Canada and the North of the United States to reach the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary located in the State of Michoacán, in the community of Tlalpujahua. The excursion includes a visit to the sanctuary and the community. It is a wonderful opportunity to live with nature and to marvel at this natural spectacle of being among so many butterflies in its habitat. This is a full day excursion.





 

 

Querétaro

Querétaro is the capital city of the State of Querétaro. It is a colonial city that mixes with the modernity of the cities in Mexico. Historically, the city of Querétaro was very important for the stage of Mexican Independence. Geographically it is very heterogeneous with ecosystems that vary from deserts to tropical forests. It is possible to find very traditional food products and it is very easy to relax in the beautiful squares that the city has..
